Digital literacy opens new doors for families and communities
IFI's digital literacy programs help people of all ages build the skills they need to access education, employment, and opportunity in a connected world.
Digital literacy is no longer optional. In a world where education, employment, healthcare, government services, and communication increasingly happen online, the ability to use technology confidently is a foundational skill, as essential as reading and writing. IFI's digital literacy programs help people of all ages build that foundation.
The programs cover the essentials: using computers and mobile devices, navigating the internet safely, communicating via email and messaging, creating documents, and accessing online services. For beginners, the focus is on comfort and confidence, helping participants overcome the fear and frustration that often accompany new technology. For more advanced learners, the programs introduce coding, digital media, AI tools, and creative technology.
Digital literacy is also a workforce issue. Many jobs, even entry level positions, require basic digital skills. By helping community members build these skills, IFI opens doors to employment, further education, and economic participation. For families, digital literacy means parents can support their children's education, access community resources, and stay connected in an increasingly digital world.
IFI's approach is community rooted. Programs are delivered in familiar settings, community centers, schools, partner organizations, and are taught by people who understand the local context. The goal is not to drop technology into a community and walk away, but to build lasting digital capacity that strengthens the community from within.
As technology continues to evolve, so will IFI's digital literacy offerings. The Technology and AI Access initiative extends this work, expanding access to AI tools, digital infrastructure, and future ready learning systems. Digital literacy is the first step on a pathway that leads to opportunity, and IFI is committed to walking that path alongside the communities it serves.
