Sports, leadership, and mentorship: empowering the next generation
IFI's sports and youth development programs use athletics, teamwork, and mentorship to build confidence, leadership, and healthy habits in young people.
Sports are more than games. For young people, athletics can be a powerful vehicle for leadership, teamwork, discipline, and personal growth. IFI's Sports and Youth Development focus area uses sports as a platform to build confidence, mentorship relationships, and healthy habits that extend far beyond the field.
Through community sports programs, youth clinics, and mentorship initiatives, IFI creates spaces where young people can develop physically, socially, and emotionally. Coaches and mentors emphasize not just athletic skill but character: communication, resilience, accountability, and respect. These are the qualities that translate into leadership in school, work, and community life.
Mentorship is central to the approach. In every sport program, experienced mentors work alongside young participants, modeling positive behavior, offering guidance, and building relationships that often last well beyond the season. For many young people, a coach or mentor becomes one of the most consistent, supportive adults in their lives.
IFI's sports initiatives also promote health and well being. Physical activity, teamwork, and structured programs help young people build healthy habits, manage stress, and develop a sense of belonging. In communities where opportunities for organized sports may be limited, IFI works to fill that gap with accessible, community rooted programming.
The connection between sports and opportunity is real. Athletic programs can open doors to scholarships, leadership roles, coaching opportunities, and community engagement. By investing in sports and youth development, IFI invests in the whole person, body, mind, and character.
